My DS has a few spots appeared that look very much like chicken pox this evening. Just a few and non have blistered as yet.

Just wondering how long he will need to stay away from School if it is chicken pox- have read five days but does that vary from child to child?

Until every single spot has scabbed over. Usually a week or so.

It is until the spots are crusted over which is 5/6 days usually. You cannot send back to school before they are crusted over so no, it isn’t very variable. It takes a minimum amount of time which is usually at least 5, so it unreasonable to expect to send DS on day 2,3 or 4. Sorry.

Around a week but maybe longer if your ds picks a spot and takes longer to scab.

Took 8 days for my 2 to completely scab over.

Thank you all for the advice.

He has had a few more more appear. None are blistering as yet.
