My DS has an issue and I don't know how serious it is.

Has he seen an optician? Guessing you mean either an ophthalmologist or an optometrist?

Yes, he's seen an optician. Sorry, yes I meant ophthalmologist.

Basically I took him to the doctor yesterday because his pupils were different sizes. She sent us to the optician who diagnosed Relative Afferent Pupillary Defect.

We took him straight back to the doctor that afternoon. She called the paediatrician who suggested urgent referral to ophthalmologist who can then refer to neurology if required.

Basically I would like to know what this could be. How urgent might it be? The GP did mention the C word, but in a 'ruling out' context. Although the appointment booking line have told me it could be 8 weeks.

Not sure what to think. And I am clever enough to know that I am not clever enough to understand what I am finding on Dr Google.

Anyone know anyone who might know about this at all?
