Nasal flu spray

Anyone else's little one had the nasal flu spray and now has a full blown cold / sickness bug with gunky eyes? My 3 year old had it last week and since Saturday has been very unwell / lack of appetite etc just wondering if it's common or coincidence?

Almost certainly coincidence. We've all had heavy colds in this house and not everyone has had a flu jab/spray.

It's the time of year for snotty noses and sneezing.

Yep, my 29 month old did a couple of weeks ago (no gunky eyes though) - all lasted a full week. From talking to other parents locally, half seemed to have no reaction and all and others got the full cold experience.

Almost certainly coincidence.
Flu spray cannot give you a cold. Possible runny nose or headache for 24hours but that's it.

That's not true Bramblebeep - the nasal vaccination contains weakened versions of the flu viruses it protects against and can cause mild flu-like symptoms. This is lifted straight from the NHS website:

Common side effects of the flu nasal spray vaccine:
. a runny or blocked nose
. headache
. general tiredness
. loss of appetite

It's very possible that OP's daughter has picked up another virus, but also not true to say that the vaccination can't cause symptoms.

My children both had a nasty temperature two days after having the flu spray.
Didn't side effects for different people
