My 5 week old baby has been diagnosed with the above. We have been in hospital for 3 days and discharge todsy. Her cough is horrendous - anyone got any idea how to help her?

Also - does anyone have any experience with broncilitis in babies andif so do you have any advice - how long will it last?

Hi @Toniex123 how is your little one doing?

My now 3 year old had lots of bouts of this - day 3 and day 5 tend to be worse -

Do go back if worried about the breathing -
Various things may help or it may just get better on its own -

My daughter had repeated chest things - but I do remember the feeling of not being able to help -

Sometimes they give an inhaler although much debate about effectiveness with little ones but it does feel like something you can do at home to help the breathing.

We also tried to keep upright as much as possible during and post feeding.

Fresh air, humidifier in the room -

We took carpets out and anti-allergy bedding but this was further down the road of repeated admissions.

Take care & just feel like you can go back if your LO shows signs of struggling.

Put books under one end of the cot so her head is raised up a bit for sleeping. Try some saline nose drops to unblock her nose and calpol for her sore throat. We had several hospital admissions for bronchiolitis during the early years - it’s horrible.

We were sent home with an inhaler from the hospital as it seemed to really help. Also slightly raise one end of the cot - a towel or something under the mattress. Hope your little one is feeling better soon.
