Amoxicillin/viral rash?

Last week my 14 month old developed a mild rash on one side of her lower back which was a cluster of small red spots all the way down to the bottom of her left bum cheek. Around the same time she developed a terrible cough and became very snotty. I took her to the doctors on Thursday and he told me she has a viral infection and that is what caused the rash and the cold like symptoms. He prescribed amoxicillin and she has been having it 3 times a day since then, however the rash has all of a sudden got a lot worse. It looks very red and angry and is no longer red pinpricks, but rather like big blotchy hives and is itchy, whereas before it didn’t seem to bother her. Anyone else experienced anything like this? As I’m starting to question whether it was a viral rash to begin with. Am taking her to the doctors in the morning anyway to see what they say but just looking to get other mums opinions as I don’t find my doctor the most reliable at the best of times and would be good to hear other experiences and get advice.

Sounds like maybe a penicillin reaction. Dr had this as a baby, big blotchy rash all over her.

If it was viral ABs wouldn't make a difference anyway. It does sound like an allergic reaction to amoxicillin - I had the same as a child. Defo back to the Drs, hope your DC gets well soon.

I would say penicillin allergy too, I had this as a teenager
