Sore bottom :-(

Just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar. My little boy has had a red, sore bottom (around his anus) for two and a half weeks now. He says it's a bit itchy and at times it is really sore. He's been treated (twice) for threadworms, he's been treated with a combination of fungal cream and metanium, when that didn't seem to be working, his dr changed him onto hydrocortisone cream, when that didn't work a dr actually had a look (consultations done by phone up to this stage) and said definitely fungal infection, mix the hydrocortisone and fungal creams, apply twice a day and give him peritine and it will be away in 3-4 days. 5 days later (and after following all advice - keep clean and dry, let as much air around as possible it seems to be getting worse and not better.

Have another appointment today with Dr but anyone have any ideas what on earth could be going on? We are all nearly at the end of our tethers - it seems to be getting a bit better and then flares up again for no reason that I can think of and it seems to annoy him more at night, so his school work is starting to suffer as he's tired in the morning. I feel so sorry for him as we've tried so hard to help him.

Update. dr really has no idea what it is but he has small sores just inside his bottom. She has perscribed a strong steroid ointment and we just have to hope that works. His bottom is so red and sore looking although he is in not bad form during the day but it wake him at night and he gets really distressed at night - which is so upsetting to see :-(

Dd2 reacted badly to Metanium. I found out on here some children do. It blistered her skin. We switched to something else and the blisters went. Only returned when I tried metanium again so definitely that. Might be worth a try if you are still using it.
