Inhaler

My DS (5) was prescribed an inhaler today after having a cough for coming on 4 weeks. He has to take 2 puffs 4 times a day through the ventilator (sorry if that's not the correct term...the big plastic tube thing!) and take 5 deep breaths from each puff...if that makes sense.

Appointment was 2:30...he had first lot at 3:15pm and then second at 7 before bed. He's in bed now and his cough is the worst it has ever been in the 4 weeks.

I've never had to use an inhaler and don't know anyone that does...can anyone advise me if this is normal when just starting an inhaler or should I stop giving him it immediately and book another gp appointment tomorrow?

Any advice would be great,
Thanks in advance
