Diatomaceous earth for dreaded itchy bum

Has anyone tried this?
After extensive Googling, and now being an expert in threadworms, I came across a few sites mentioning this stuff.
If you’ve tried it, do you just one off dose? Or take over a period of time?
Is it ok to give to the kids?

I wouldn't use it on you kids bum! If it got into the mucous membranes inside it'd be incredibly irritating. And eating it will probably do fuck all.

Get some Ovex from the chemist.

We’ve all taken a dose of ovex but this is the 3rd time this year we’ve had it (I suspect from a playgroup, that we will no longer be attending!)
I’ve been rigorous with washing, cutting nails, bedding & cleaning, got rid of all our soft toys but the worms are still back.
The DE I’ve read about is mixed into a drink not applied to the bottom, apparently it kills off internal parasites

Yes I saw lots of those today too Wink but it was mentioned so many times (including lots of threads on here) that I’m considering it but just want to hear first hand if anyone actually has taken it

yes ! I have a giant tub of food grade diatamaceous earth. Drink it in water..tastes a bit like a muddy puddle and don't inhale it.! No ill effects and seems to work..

aidelmaidel · 22/10/2018 21:33

My vet says give it to the dog for worms (as well as chemicals) and it's worked and dog seems fine. We use it for fleas too, works a treat, so I don't see why it shouldn't work for kids.

Momzilla82 · 22/10/2018 21:43

Look up Kirsty Wirth and Kultured wellness. It's not the woo some people claim, just start off with a low dose and work upwards

Seaweed42 · 23/10/2018 15:33

Or just dose everyone on the Ovex again, and then a second time. It says you can do it a second time if they are not all cleared. You can't dose worms 'over a period of time' because you are giving them time to continue the cycle.
Why would you make your kids drink some horrible shit just because you are in favour of it. It may look like it's got no side effects but you've no idea how it'll affect your kids.
