Hey. I have a appointment tomorrow morning for my DS to have the flu spray. Now it's getting closer I'm getting worried and in 2 minds can I have some opinions please I know it's not a live vaccine and won't hurt him.

I'll add that he is 2 and will be 3 next month.

It is a live vaccine btw (the injection isn't). Neither of my 2 ever had side effects from it

SoyDora · 22/10/2018 15:00

It actually is a live vaccine. Myjust 3 year old had hers a couple of weeks ago with no issues.

Oh god I was told wrong information by the doctors receptionist I'm not happy I asked is it live and she said no. Now I really don't know what to do. Ladies who's children who have had it was there any issues or side effects

No issues. No side effects. They said the most common side effect is a loss of appetite but that didn’t happen here. Both my DC had it last year with no side effects too.

SoyDora · 22/10/2018 18:24

The potential side effects are far milder than the potential effects of the flu itself.

BendingSpoons · 22/10/2018 18:26

No issues here with my 2 year old. You would not have known she had had it at the time or after.

weeboysmummy · 22/10/2018 18:31

My little boy had it last year at that age and again two weeks ago. No issues at all.

Sidge · 22/10/2018 18:36

Live vaccines aren’t inherently dangerous. They just work in a different way.

nomorespaghetti · 22/10/2018 18:38

No issues or side effects for my 2.5yo

ShowOfHands · 22/10/2018 19:47

Don't be worried by it being live.

I've nursed a dc through flu while they were tiny and it was terrifying. They have a flu jab every year and never a side effect.

Watto1 · 22/10/2018 19:49

Proper flu is grim. I'd let my child have the spray without question. Any possible minor side effects are nothing compared with full blown flu.
