HFMD- should she go to school

Hello,

So DD aged 4 was poorly on Friday, had a high temp and generally under the weather. Kept her home from school. Saturday she was back to her normal self however this morning she woke up with red spots on her feet and hands. Quite clearly hand, foot and mouth disease.

Thankfully she's well in herself and has been playing, eating and drinking well. I've had conflicting advise about sending her to school tomorrow. NHS website said she should be fine to go. However I feel a little uneasy sending her as in my understanding she will still be infectious and I would hate for her to be the cause of another child's illness.

The American websites all say to keep the child at home.

Not sure what's the right thing to doConfused

It’s infectious isn’t it? So surely she should stay at home to avoid passing it on to the other kids at school? Maybe keep her off Monday and when you call the school ask them at what point they’re happy to have her back, if you have to wait until all the spots are gone for instance?

Yeah, I think I will call the school tomorrow and see what they suggest.

My first thought was to keep her home, just was confused about the official NHS advise
