My 6 year old dd has started getting a bit whiffy under the arms. I'd noticed it before but not said anything but now she has said to me that she can smell herself during the day at school and she'd like to start wearing deodorant. I'm a bit loathe to buy a 6 year old deodorant, even a natural one, but I also don't want her feeling self conscious.
She is a very active, quite skinny little thing with a good diet. Should she be starting to smell? Should I get deodorant and if so, any recommendations?

My 6 year old boy has started wearing deodorant for the same reason.

No advice. I bought Sanex alcohol free deodorant for him.

Did he notice he smelt or did you? Was he self conscious?
I've just been doing some reading and I'm thinking maybe first I need to increase her water intake.

My now 9 year old was the same. Looking back I was too and I remember getting picked on at school because of it. I didn’t want my DD to go through that so I did introduce deodorant quite early. She wasn’t self conscious about it but I didn’t want it to become an issue if other people started to notice.

It’s now just part of her morning routine. She uses a ‘keep it kind’ one which seems to do the trick without too many harsh chemicals.

Yes I've always been a pretty sweaty betty too so I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise! Just caught me off guard as 6 is so young.
Ingredients lists on deodorants are a minefield...
