Blood in poo again!

Have posted here a few times over the years about my 8 year old daughter.
Since she was 3 she has had episodes of blood in her poo. She's had samples sent off and all ok. She doesnt have it often and mostly when it's a big one. We've tried movocol intermittently. Today it's happened again. She said it was hard to get out.
Is it ok to think this is her 'norm?' If it was something serious wouldn't we know by now as its been happening sporadically for 5 years?
I'm a worrier so trying to reason with myself 🙄

If it was hard to get out then it's most likely a little fresh blood from it tearing a bit on the way out and she is constipated. I'd go back to using movicol to keep her poos soft and comfortable to pass. Encourage her to drink lots, and eat as much fruit and veg as possible!

She said it hurt and the blood was streaked on the side of the poo

Sounds like a small tear caused by constipation, def get her restarted on movicol, and get her drinking as much as possible!

Purely because I'm having a wobble tonight...
Is there anything else this could be? Why does she keep getting hard poos every few months which cause this. I've had my logical head on and been ok but tonight I'm anxious. We've been hitting the movocol for 2 days and it's already softer so that's good.

Is she coming off the movicol too quickly, so never gets chance to really settle into a good pattern? If she's been having problems on and off for years, I'd expect the need for daily treatment for months.

I agree with the last poster. She needs to have soft stools. Letting them get hard is probably causing this. Work on her diet and fluid intake but stay on moviolas for a good few weeks if not months ( many children need it for years) until her anus is healed and her stools are soft without it; wean off slowly.

It's tricky when it's every few months. I wonder if it's something she's eating which isn't agreeing with her? We have the same issue every so often.

We had this on and off but think growing out of it now.

Not drinking enough didn't help but not the cause. Last time we saw a paediatrician he said green leafy veg is what's needed. I pulled a face so he thought I was one of those burgers-at-the-school gates mothers. But seriously what green leafy veg do most kids like other than broccoli if that counts? So we are eating more green salad/baby spinach...

I have a good movicol tip though if you have the plain one which is put it in nesquick. No more moaning about having to take it then. I believe there's a chocolate one on prescription but we were never given it.

Leafy greens? No chance!! 😂

Now in secondary. But probs on/off since about 6 months. Diet is mostly ok, lack of kale aside.

Since we started on omega 3s for other reasons (dry skin) have also noticed improvement. Movicol is a marvel I don't know how people managed before invented.

Ok so there's hope for my daughter to grow out of it too as long as I keep up the movocol

We only used movicol on and off when needed. I don't know why problem comes & goes. Ask your gp when you should reduce/stop it

Try not to pass off your anxiety on to your daughter. There's two things going on here - one is the issue she has - which incidentally you're dealing with and isn't serious anyway - and the other is your own health anxiety or just generalised anxiety. Try not to confuse the two

Yes I do have health anxiety but I don't make it obvious to my daughter, in fact she didn't even realise she had blood this time as I didn't mention it.
I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing anyrhing like this and could offer some advice x

Think that was harsh even if well intended. No one likes to see a child upset.

I recommend book a routine appointment with GP (without dd - she doesn't need to hear) and get them to explain it all properly so you understand what you're doing with movicol etc and why and put mind at rest

Yes I did thank you, will get in contact. My worry stems from a close family member who died from bowel cancer and symptom was blood in poo, hence why I wobble

Its not really harsh though is it? The doctor has ruled out anything serious and this is the health anxiety speaking - hence why op needs to come back in a panic and ask for more reassurance

HA is no walk in the park but it needs facing before you unwittingly pass it on

I'm not passing it on and I'm aware I have it. It's also not something I want to feel bad about having because it's how I am. The doctor hasn't ruled anyrhing out which is why I came here looking for advice from anyone else who has been through this with their little one. I understand what you're saying about two things happening here but I havent sought advice about my HA as I have a good understanding of it. Everyone wobbles sometimes

Pink can you give me more info please as this is something that has bothered me.
Did it bleed often, lots? How did that find a polyp? I don't want to put my little one through a nything unnecessary
