Does anyone have the Brother Max 2 in 1?

I've just purchased but each time I try and take an ear reading I get a result of 0.00. I have used on the forehead which is showing 39.0 and I have used a separate under the younger thermometer which is showing 39.1.

How on earth do I get a reading from the ear?
