5year old only coughing at bedtime

I thought she was getting a cold but it's just ended up being a cough. For one day she was coughing all day and it sounded quite chesty. Then today and yesterday she wasn't coughing at all through the day but as soon as she lay down on her bed she was coughing until she was almost sick. She would get up for half an hour or so and then go to bed again no problem. Is this normal? She doesn't cough anymore through the night. Just a little virus? I can't think of anything in her room that could set her off.

aah this is happenning with my LO atm too. Its the lying down position which gathers mucus at the back of throat making a person cough more. First night i had to sleep with her on my shoulders and me leaning sat up in bed.
Try raise ur LOs head a little if possible.

Very normal.

I had it with my dd when she was little and - as a teacher - I often have parents let me know that their child has had a rough night's sleep because of a bad cough.

Sounds daft but put vick on the bottom of your lo feet and also chest put a pair of socks on and the cough will stop.

My son (5yr)was coughing a lot at night we saw a asthma nurse who suggested it could be nasal drip. At her suggestion we are also trying him with goats milk which does seem to be helping.
