Reaction to bad food or bug?

DD has been vomiting quite violently throughout the night (she is 13 years old). We all had the same food last night and the rest of us are ok, but poor dd is so ill Sad.

It came on quite fast at around 2am in the night and has continued ....she's been sick several times and is even retching on an empty stomach. It seems quite sudden for a bug. I just wondered if people think it's a reaction to some nasty germ in her dinner last night or if it's more likely to be a stomach bug.
TIA.

Hi OP

I doubt whether it was last night's dinner if the rest of you are ok. It could be something she ate earlier in the day, but sounds pretty typical for a bug to me. Make sure she stays at home for at least 48 hours after last episode of v or d to reduce the risk of her spreading germs outside the family.

Hope she feels better soon, and the rest of you stay well!

We're all just recovering from a horrible bug. Only DS (11) was actually sick- many times in 3 hour period. Older DC and I felt ghastly with stomach ache and were burping smokey petrol tastes. Perhaps TMI??!!
Awful. Passed in 24 hours.

PS break out the bleach cleaner to contain the germs...
