When to worry about temp & ongoing cold

Ds has had a cold since middle of September but hasn’t been too overly bothered by it, still eating (not as well) and running about
This weekend he’s been really clingy, not eating much at all (but drinking lots) sleepier than usual (has dropped naps but has been having them this weekend) and has had a high temp
I don’t have a thermometer to measure temp but to touch he has been v hot, medicating with calpol.

Last night he has some calpol at 7pm before bed, went in to check on him at 8.15pm and he was talking rubbish and his temp was still high, gave bin some nurofen and after 45 mins his temp came back down and he was just clammy (and restless) for the rest of the night.

I don’t usually worry too much about colds but is it normal for a temp to flare after almost 2 weeks? And what worries me last night was that the calpol didn’t seem to have any effect on it

When I say talking rubbish I mean he was just babbling not really making any sort of sentence/sense

If he's had a temp for a couple of days and it's been high enough to make him delirious I would take him to the gp as he may well have an infection. Whilst waiting for an appointment I would keep him cool and comfortable and encourage fluids. Hope he's feeling better soon Flowers
