Bumps on knuckles

Hi,

I wondered if anybody might know what these bumps mean on the knuckles of an 8 year old boy? They are not caused by rubbing, as far as I can tell.

Ummm I know older people with bumps that look like this have arthritis, not sure on a child though.
I would get a gp appointment and see what they say.

Thanks, I actually managed to work it out online. They're called knuckle pads and have all sorts of possible causes and no cure. So there we are.
