Hoping someone can help. My six year old had what looked like a small bite on her arm last week. It's now turned into this it's about 2cm very red, raised and very lumpy.I've never seen anything like it before its on her upper arm near her shoulder. Thinking of doctor if it dosnt clear soon its getting worse not better. Anyone know what it could be? Many thanks .

Has she had chicken pox? It looks a bit like shingles. Could you take her to a pharmacy?

Harleypuppy · 24/09/2018 17:12

I had a mosquito bite that looked like this. Are there anymore spots?

Raver84 · 24/09/2018 17:27

She's had chicken pox about a year anf a half ago. There is just this one lump. Started off like a small bite and is getting bigger. It has about 25 small lumps in it.

I had something similar and it was shingles . Didnt need any treatment

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 17:29

It looks really nasty, OP. I'd take her to the doctor with that, but in the meantime do you have a pharmacy nearby? You could ask the pharmacist if they had any idea.

Impetigo ?

PortiaCastis · 24/09/2018 17:31

Looks like shingles

Raver84 · 24/09/2018 17:32

I've just Google shingles and yes it looks just like the rash that goes wit shingles. But it's just this one small patch. Il take her to the gp tomorrow I think

Would shingles get more of a rash or can it be just a small patch? She is other wise well but was ill two weeks ago with a heavy cold and sickness

Molluscum contagiosum maybe?

Canshopwillshop · 24/09/2018 20:06

Shingles normally follows a nerve. Looks a bit like impetigo to me.

PizzaAndChips · 24/09/2018 20:08

I agree - impetigo.

IME, pharmacists haven't recognised impetigo symptoms so go to GP as soon as you can. It is highly contagious if that's what it is.

My son had this on his side, which turned out to be shingles.

Husband gets those sort of rashes on his arm when he's stressed, and apparently it's a type of herpes infection.

BlackInk · 25/09/2018 09:38

I'm going to throw ringworm into the mix. This starts as a single itchy blistery spot, then more spots come along and form a circle or ring. A pharmacist would recognise this and give you some anti-fungal cream if it is...

Raver84 · 25/09/2018 13:54

Thanks everyone for your help we've been to Dr's this morning and it's shingles she has some meds to take.
