Waxy ears

My ds 12 has incredibly waxy ears. Every 3days so you can clearly see it gathered all on the outside. Often it's quite dark. Is this normal? I wondered if it's to do with having small ear canal S(googled that bit). He thinks his hearing is fine but I wonder if there is a build up. His ears only get really clean if he goes swimming Blush anybody else had similar ?

My little one is only 3, but I often clean his ears with a little bit of special ear spray on a tissue. I was told that sticking things in his ear might make things worse. Our kelpie kept licking his ears clean too, which might have helped! Blush Do you have a dog who can lick your sons ears? It might be controversial, but it seems to work!

Ha ha the thought of the dog licking his ears and the Pre teen furore afterwards - where's the wine!

My dd is also super waxy and it's brown. When she had an ear infection once her eardrum burst and it was literally pouring out for 48hr and dripping onto her shoulder Confused.

I clean whats visible with a cotton bud. Once she had a big lump hanging out which was pretty grim when I pulled it out. She would be a sporners dream! No obvious hearing issues.

My 11 year old is the same and I often don’t realise until we’ve left the house Hmm

DS1 has very waxy ears and it's quite dark, I tend to leave them alone as much as I can. He had a burst ear drum when he was younger so I am wary of interfering with them too much.
