Toddlers with GORD

After years of issues, my 3 year old daughter has been diagnosed with GORD.

She has to have 1 omeprazole a day and had her first today.

I'm wondering how long it will take to see a change? She's usually sick once a night, in the night. So praying that maybe she won't tonight!

Also any tips? She has to sleep with very high pillows but slide down so quite a nightmare.

Hi

My son has GORD and it started when he was four although he is ten now. I was advised to actually prop his bed up so I have large books under the feet at the top of the bed. I have also seen that you can buy wedge pillows if needed.

I can’t really remember how long it took to see any improvement but I do know that my son really struggled to take omeprazole. We struggled on for ages but eventually with some prompting they moved him to lanzoprazole.

He used to be doubled over with pain after eating and I seem to remember that improved pretty quickly.

Hope all goes well x

God diagnosis from birth so no idea on times but second the propping the bed. You can buy foam wedges on Amazon which go under the sheet so less stress on the bed joints.

DS also has gaviscon in his milk as well as loperamide
