gifted dd struggling with hearing problem - low self esteem?

My teenage dd is gifted and in a grammar school but sometimes feels left out as she's got a hearing problem bad enough to qualify for a hearing aid, but as it's mostly in her brain there's not much we can do. teachers aren't the best at inclusion as they're old fashioned and traditional so even though they sit her at the front of class they will still dictate and lecture even though she says she can't keep up and just drops out of listening. It doesn't help that she's that student that people will ask to check their answers and she told me it upsets her when she has to admit she doesn't know what's going on, because it's her hearing at fault, not her intelligence.

This has given her low self esteem and i just want to make her happy.

I think you need to explain this to the school again. She probably gets forgotten about if she's clever and coping. Speak to her tutor or head of year and explain she can't hear everything. I know you probably don't want to make a fuss, but I think in this instance you might have to.
