Toddlers peeling feet

Dd (2.5) was sat next to me when I noticed the soles of her feet were peeling, great big pieces of skin just peeling away. Her toes have been peeling slightly the past few weeks, but didn't think anything of it. Someone mentioned KD but I've looked the symptoms up and she only has the peeling skin, no other symptom 🤔 do I just leave it be or take her to the doctor (don't want to be 'that neurotic mum')

Have you just been on a beach holiday by any chance? My feet used to do that after our annual trip. Two weeks spent consistently on the beach is the best foot exfoliator. Is the skin underneath red raw or does it look okay?

Jeanie No beach holiday, or visits! The skin underneath looks a little red, but not red raw and it's not hurting her. Just very odd!

She hasn't had scarlet fever (temperature and sore throat type virus) recently has she? Or hand, foot and mouth? I believe either of these can cause hands and feet to peel a while after...

No Black no illnesses of any sort!

Athletes foot?!

theconstantinoplegardener · 21/08/2018 15:50

Another suggestion of Athlete's Foot here! My DD has peeling toes, and they are also itchy now. We are using canesten cream to treat it.

TheLastSaola · 21/08/2018 15:55

My feet did this continually as I grew up.

The hard skin on the base of the foot doesn’t expand as your foot grows - so it peels off in massive pieces. No ill effects.

The skin underneath is a little red at first, but soon hardens up.

My DD 3.5 has had it a little bit as well.

Looking at it again, it doesn't look red underneath anymore. And she's not itching or scratching. I took a couple of pictures (not best quality as she wouldn't keep still 😂)

Was there any update on what this might be? I've noticed this on my 3yr old. I'm a little worried but may just take him to the docs
