CMPA in 8 week old.. HELP!

Hello,
I'm new to this so am not sure if I'm posting in the right section.
My DS is 8 weeks old and has had blood in his nappy for the last week. My GP is USELESS and is fobbing us off. We went for a single private consultation out of desperation and he was diagnosed with CMPA and put DS on Nutramigen. He is on it a week now and things are better but there is still blood. My question is how long should we give Nutramigen before considering a move to an amino acid formula? We don't want to be too hasty but also are worried about continued blood. The private consultant is leaving it up to GP now and GP does not want to know so wont discuss it...What has your experiences been? Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Could you speak to your HV? They also have the option to refer you to a paediatrician
No other advice sorry

Hi
I found this Facebook group great. Lots of people with same experiences.

My baby has CMPA, I realised at 4 months. I'm breastfeeding but had to top up for the first 6 weeks. GP didn't want to know eventually got some specialist formula when he was 7 months and I was struggling with breastfeeding. I had repeatedly asked for formula and a referral to the dietician. HV wasn't much help. At his one year check (at 10 months) the nursery nurse referred us to the dietitian who was horrified we'd not been referred sooner. Apparently CMPA is really under diagnosed.
I think unless the baby is losing weight they don't bother, my DS didn't lose any weight but I've lost a lot and had quite a few fillings as I've continued breastfeeding. Try a different GP and maybe ring the hospital and see if you can self refer.

There is also cmpa groups on Facebook,

CMPA main group
And CMPA weaning and one other, I forget, breastfeeding maybe?

Very helpful. My
Wee girl is on Neocate, non dairy formula. Prescription, but I had to go back several times and insist on it.

According to the NICE guidelines your GP should refer you for either a blood test or skin prick test if they suspect IGE or a Paediatric Dietician if they suspect non-ige.

I think it might be worth printing off the guidelines and going back to the GP. Get DH to go with you if you can. It’s sad but GPS are less likely to fob you off if Dad has bothered to turn up as well.

The other alternative would be to ask for a second opinion.
