DD having tonsils removed today :(

Morning, just need some words of reassurance as eldest DD is having her tonsils removed today. I've hardly slept worrying about it and look it this morning too (great as the ExH says he wants to visit her too, hoping she gets sent back home before he finishes work!).

I'm also pretty peeved as DH has a work function today which isn't due to finish until late tonight so I am on my own.

Anyone give me good stories of their teenagers please .... mine is already saying she isn't going to wear a gown with her bum on show and we havn't got to the hospital yet Sad

I was 15 when I had mine out. When your DD gets onto the ward, you’ll probably find she does exactly as she’s told by the nursing staff - they will be busy and won’t stand for any messing around. As a teenager having your tonsils out isn’t fun but the recovery and benefits are amazing.

Hope everything goes smoothly for your DD.

I had mine out when I was a teenager. Yes wearing the gown was quite embarrassing, so was having to whip off the top and have my boobs out in front of 4 hunky doctors whilst they stuck sensors on my chest (or something, dont remember), and especially when the nurse put vaseline on my bum hole in order to administer a suppository. It's a cringey experience and you feel rough!

My mum was with me the whole time, I was probably very grumpy with her and barely said two words in over a week. They might make her eat crispy toast (to flush down excess skin) and take medicine that hurts, so prepare for water works!

It was painful for weeks and i felt like a zombie, but it wasn't the end of the world, I just moped about a bit and I'm glad I had them out now.

she never suffered with tonsillitis until her teenage years but had so much time off for it this last winter we both know it will be for the best overall.

We've saved up the rest of Grey's Anatomy to watch together as we several series behind although I am hoping she sleeps for the next few days (so no change to normal then Grin ) and I'm off til Monday now and working from home all next week!

Heres hoping she follows instructions and it's all over before I know it

When's she's feeling rough I'm sure she will just follow instructions and trust the doctors - she won't have the energy to fight it!

Sounds like a great plan. I'm sure she will be absolutely fine.

I was same - constantly off school with it. My kids seemed to have escaped it (touches wood)!
