Can someone hold my hand

3 year old had been complaining of a pain in his leg. This afternoon he jumped off the sofa screaming because he was in pain. Took him to A & e they did an X-ray and there is something on the X-ray. They've sent us home and told us it needs to go to a pediatric radiologist for review.

Please talk me down. Everything I google says tumour. Help please tell me it will be something else

I can’t tell you anything other than you did the right thing by going to A&E, whatever the next step is. Stop Googling; it won’t change anything. Have a hand-hold💐

Thanks I want to be sick I am so frightened. They said we show know by wed. A&E dr said he wasn't a specialist so didn't know but thought there was no point admitting him because the pain had subsided.

No advice but just thinking of you and hope it is minor.

Another hand to hold. Not knowing is scary. Hope your boy isnt in pain now. And hope all turns out to be nothing major

Could well be something like irritable hip which is really quite common in young boys.

There are other more common causes that are equally as likely at this point, but I’m here with you I know it must be so scary to contemplate serious illness in your little one. Let us know how he is feeling tomorrow

DD had leg pain for a while went to go who sent for immediate x-rays , was told looked possibly dodgy, was referred to peads she had to have an MRI (which she thought was the coolest thing ever especially when they showed her the video)
It seems he legs bones just grow Interestingly, otho have said they will leave her on the books and to come back if it gets worse. .. I was shitting myself it was cancer or another serious illness... Step away from Google , it cannot make you feel better

Thank you all. I took a pic of the X-ray on my phone it looks like A small oval/ circle on his femur bone.

The A&E dr said it could be anything but as it wasn't an accident or emergency he wasn't going to admit him just refer him. So just got to wait. He and his twin are currently tearing round the house chasing each other so I guess that's good. Fingers crossed

Another hand hold from me too. It is majorly scary thinking your LO has something awful wrong. And the lack of control in being able to find out what it is. That waiting etc churns you up inside.
Try not to google however hard that is.

I had an X-ray referred before as A&E couldn't decide if they were seeing a small fracture or not! Turns out it was.

We had almost this exact thing earlier in the year, except it was dds knee.
It turned out to be an injury (no idea what she did, when, or how), and sorted itself.
However, we had to be referred and watched just in case it was cancer.
The orthopaedic surgeon told me that the type of cancer they were concerned about mainly occurs in boys, aged 10-15. It's extremely rare, and almost totally unheard of in children under 5. He told me that if she had it, she'd be in medical journals and all sorts, it's so unlikely.
However, because that tiny chance was there, they are super quick at specialists etc seeing them, just in case.
Try not to worry too much, it's probably nothing, and definitely do not Google!

It could be anything to be honest but I'd say tearing around the house with his twin sibling is a good sign - if you can ignore the destruction for 10 minutes make yourself a cuppa!

Trying my best not to google ! Thanks @Whitelisbon I hope that it's the same sort of thing. I have to say they were really good in A&E. They did keep reassuring me that it doesn't look sinister but as they didn't know what it was they had to refer it. He mentioned bone cyst several times.

I asked DS a minute ago how his leg was and he just pointed to the wrong leg again fills me with hope !

My friend’s son had something very similar. Broke his arm. Similar sounding oval shape on the x ray which turned out to be a cyst. No further treatment and he is now a strapping adult with kids of his own.

I’m sure he will be fine.
