A and e or not?

My DD 8 fell over on her bike and the saddle went into the centre of her stomach. It was about an hour ago, she has had paracetamol and ibuprofen but she is in a lot of pain, it makes her cry if she attempts to cough or breathe deeply. My partner is of the opinion we should just wait and see as the hospital won't be able to do anything anyway. What do you think?

What is your DH waiting for exactly? If she's in serious pain she could have done internal damage. If I were you I would go to A&E. They certainly won't do nothing!

strawberrypenguin · 06/08/2018 18:26

Hmm if she's still crying in pain I'd take her to get checked over

CraftyGin · 06/08/2018 18:27

An hour is a long time to still be in pain. I would be thinking about A&E.

LittleMe03 · 06/08/2018 19:58

Late reply to your op but I hope you've taken her to get checked and hope she's ok Thanks

notapizzaeater · 06/08/2018 19:59

I'd have took her if she was still upset so long after.

LEMtheoriginal · 06/08/2018 20:01

Take her to A&E ffs. I know of a lad that died from a similar injury
Had ruptured his spleen. I know that is extreme but if she is till hurting then take her. Do you have a minor injuries unit near you? At the very least call 111 for advice

HoleyCoMoley · 06/08/2018 20:01

Poor wee soul she needs to go to hospital and see a doctor. Hope she is ok and feels better soon. What's the point in waiting, she could have injured herself.

schooltripwoes · 06/08/2018 20:03

Yes definitely. Severe pain could indicate internal bleeding (spleen / liver), which is serious.

SoftSheen · 06/08/2018 20:05

A&E now! What are you waiting for?!

jellycat1 · 06/08/2018 20:13

Bloody hell yes. Go.

1forsorrow2forjoy · 06/08/2018 20:35

She is back from a and e. They think it is just bad bruising but we are to keep an eye on her and if it doesn't improve or gets worse in the next few days she needs to go back to have further tests.

You did the right thing taking her OP. Hopefully it is just bad bruising but certainly not worth taking the risk x

lljkk · 07/08/2018 10:34

gosh to me seems like you shouldn't have gone because it was a waste of OP's time & they did nothing to make the girl better. No clarity achieved at all.

Hope she keeps improving, anyway.

Owletterocks · 07/08/2018 19:07

Handlebar injuries can be very serious, the op was absolutely right to go and have her daughter examined, vital signs checked and serious injury ruled out. I wouldn’t class that as a waste of time at all.
