Bugger - tick

Dd3 picked up a tick on a walk today. She is 11 and was wearing boots, socks and long trousers but it's sneaked in between sock and trouser. It was removed by dh using a removing tool as soon as we got back to the car so in situ for less than two hours, possibly not as much as one. Bite ointment and antiseptic applied. Other than watching for rash or flu type symptoms we don't need to do anything else do we? Feel a bit stupid even though I know they are endemic and at least we had a remover handy. We are on the west cost of Scotland by the way.

I thought a tick had to be in for 24 hours or something before it could pass anything on? I could be wrong! My children have had several and have not been ill. Just keep an eye out for flu type symptoms in the next few weeks, or a rash around where the tick was. It will probably be absolutely fine.
