Hi, I need to get a clean catch sample, in a wee bottle, from my nearly 3 yr old son, who is not potty trained. I’ve done loads of samples when he was a baby but none recently and I’ve no idea how to get him to sit still until he wees then catch some in the bottle! Anyone have any good tips? Thanks!

That's tough. Maybe when he wakes up, try and sit him on the potty in front of the TV and bribe him with a snack. You might get lucky.

You'll be better catching it in the potty than the bottle. Will he sit on the potty and watch tv if you bribe him?

Haha snap!

Try sitting him on the potty as soon as he wakes up from sleep, and also after a cold drink.

Has to be a clean catch, am worried the potty technique might mean a contaminated sample - amazing how easily that happens! Tv will definitely be involved though...

A cheap plastic measuring jug. (I had to spend a week collecting and measuring DS urine as part of his referral to the continence service)

You need a stick on urine collection bag- your GP or pharmacy should be able to provide.
