Rash - should I be worried?

Hi I was looking for a little advice my son has woken from his afternoon nap and seems to have a rash on his mouth. He keeps licking it. It looks quite sore. I think I'm going to take him to the doctors in the morning but Google doesn't help does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thank you :-)

Cold sore? Impetigo?

Jkrgjg · 22/07/2018 20:05

I'm not sure here's a closer photo? I'm currently waiting for a call back from 111 just to make sure. It has little blisters inside the red patches.

Is it yellowish? Could be impetigo.

Jkrgjg · 22/07/2018 20:17

No it's not really yellow it's mostly blotchy and red with little blisters it kind of looks a little like he's been burnt 😞 but he definitely hasn't he was fine when I put him down for his nap and woke up like it.

Allergy to something he has drunk or eaten?

Jkrgjg · 22/07/2018 20:33

I haven't given him anything different to what he normally has. When he woke up it was just red I thought he had slept funny but now it has blisters inside the red patches. I've just googled impetigo it could be that possibly? It says to keep it dry but I can't as he keeps licking it so it's obviously irritating him still waiting for a call back from 111 hoping I can send them the photo so they can see 🤞

That does look like impetigo to me. It's very contagious so just be careful to not have it spread. Hope 111 call back soon x

Jkrgjg · 22/07/2018 21:25

Thank you lovely I hope so too can I catch it from him? 😞 x

Poor little thing
Impetigo is contagious

aperolspritzplease · 22/07/2018 21:29

Hand foot and mouth?

Canshopwillshop · 22/07/2018 21:31

Looks like impetigo

YouBoggleMyMind · 22/07/2018 21:35

www.nhs.uk/conditions/impetigo/

It's very contagious so you may catch it.

SheldonandPenny · 22/07/2018 22:22

Impetigo is very infectious. Use separate everything and consder 90 degree machine wash if you can. It can spread very quickly. GP will need to treat. Alternatively could it be herpes cold sore first attack, which can be v horrible. The.majority of people have it in remission.

northernlites · 22/07/2018 22:32

Hand foot and mouth is doing the rounds, check his hands & feet for rash too

Jkrgjg · 22/07/2018 22:33

Thanks everyone, they've called me back and said they can't obviously diagnose anything over the phone and I can't send them a photo they don't have that facility :-( but they said they think it could be impetigo or hand foot and mouth for sure they also said they cant rule out chicken pox either :-( so we just have to go to docs first thing in the morning as she said it's highly contagious and bad for pregnant women too so no children's centres for us for a bit. X

Hand foot and mouth or impetigo. My doctors weren't 100% sure when my little one had it so prescribed the impetigo antibiotics anyway.... I couldn't get them down her though and it got better (plus she developed blisters on her hands and feet later) so it was hand foot and mouth. Hope the doctors has diagnosed him.

If h,f&m lots of soft cold foods. Heat and hewing made the mouth blisters so so sore.

Jkrgjg · 23/07/2018 12:04

Thanks everyone it's impetigo he has an antibiotic cream to put on and he said I should see a difference in 48 hours but to keep him away from people because of how contagious it is especially at this stage :-( at least he's still smiling bless him x
