So ds 16 had these weird marks appear on he’s back about a month ago, it has now spread, I took him gp, who sent him for a blood test, but didn’t know what it was.he said go back in 2 weeks, but I’ve checked it again tonight and it’s got worse, it’s spreading really quick. They look like scars, I think it’ll be a miracle if he isn’t left permanently scared.

I’m going to take him back on Monday. Just wondered if anyone had incounted anything like this. I’ve attached a picture from a month ago and now.

Has he had a growth spurt? Look like stretch marks. My sister got horizontal ones on her thighs when she suddenly grew very quickly

Saisong · 20/07/2018 23:24

They look like stretch marks from rapid growth

BetterEatCheese · 20/07/2018 23:25

The blotchy ones on the right look like my pregnant belly did

PippilottaLongstocking · 20/07/2018 23:25

I was going to say stretch marks too, I’ve got them all over my thighs and hips which I think is more common but I guess it’s possible to gett them anywhere, has he had a growth spurt?

IJustHadToNameChange · 20/07/2018 23:26

Stretch marks.

BetterEatCheese · 20/07/2018 23:26

I got them on my boobs and upper chest too. They can indeed appear anywhere.

SilverHairedCat · 20/07/2018 23:29

Like exactly like stretch marks. I have them all over my body.

Worried83 · 20/07/2018 23:30

I did think that but he’s weight hasn’t changed, neither has he’s height for a while. Blood test come back normal, so maybe could be stretch marks. They do get itchy and sore too (normally when he sweats).

Another one voting for stretch marks. Assume they last a few months then turn silver.

Longdistance · 20/07/2018 23:30

I was going to say stretch marks. Has he had a major growth spurt?

Chocolate1984 · 20/07/2018 23:30

Stretch marks

Zephyrsinskyatnight · 20/07/2018 23:31

Mine were very itchy and sore!!!

SilverHairedCat · 20/07/2018 23:34

Agree - itchy and sore is normal for stretch marks.

"Sometimes, particularly in teenage boys, stretch marks can develop on the back, overlying the spine horizontally (like the rungs on a ladder)".

MorningCuppa · 20/07/2018 23:37

Yes I agree stretch marks.

NoMudNoLotus · 20/07/2018 23:37

Stretch marks x

helacells · 20/07/2018 23:42

Definitely stretchies! Mine came overnight when I was 9, the angry red look will fade to silvery color, totally normal. Could be hormones, growth or zinc deficiency

Worried83 · 20/07/2018 23:48

Ah right looks like it’s that then. Glad it’s nothing bad but a bit gutted for him because they are quite deep so he’s going to have a lot of scars.
