Sorry for posting again but I'm a first time single mum on my own ans a bit of a worrier Sad

My little boy is 4.5 months old and yesterday he developed a cough, he also has a blocked nose and sneezing alot and has quite raspy sounding breathing. He often sleeps through the night but last night he woke nearly every hour crying and just really really upset each time. He has also gagged on his milk a few times as he coughs when trying to drink. He drank 5 oz last night at 7pm and only 4 this morning at around 7am followed by high pitched crying (like the one when they've just had their injections) and he has now been sleeping for the last 3 hours. His temperature is fine.

Is this simply just a cold and he needs lots of cuddles and love or should I take him to the doctors?? Sorry for the essay!

It sounds like a cold - annoying, but normal! Just keep fluids up, and keep an eye on him. If you're worried, it's the kind of thing a pharmacy would be able to advise on, which might be easier than going to gp!

Keep an eye on his chest and if you are worried just go doctors. Nasal drops can help and baby vix Smile it's horrible when they are poorly. I always get my son checked over but that's because I'm a worry mum. Give calpol to, he might have a sore throat

I would suspect a sore throat and would give calpol.
If you are worried about him you can phone 111 at any time.

Definitely give calpol. He has a cold and so will prob have a head ache, sore throat etc. If you can get one, humidifiers really help my baby with a blocked nose at night. If it gets really bad tonight, then baby nurofen can also be given. Otherwise, albos oil, Vicks on the chest and keep an eye on the temperature. Look for signs of ear rubbing in case of ear ache and don't be afraid to go to the doctors if you are really concerned. Sorry poorly babies are really hard to cope with.

Btw I totally get you posting on here - it’s so hard when you are on your own (my oh works away a lot) and don’t have that other person just to sense check against. Mumsnet is brill for that but remember we can’t see him/her so always trust your instinct.
