Another sickness one

Hi
Had a look at other threads about sickness but couldn’t see one the same so sorry if I’m repeating a similar thread.

My 16 month old started vomiting about lunchtime, she was fine all morning and fine right up until she was sick. Happened again about half an hour later.
She’s been sick a couple more times but it’s only been after she’s eaten or drunk. She ate one chip for lunch and then that came back up, just the chip, nothing else. Drank some water and then a bit later the water came up. Had some toast and nearly a full cup of water for tea, was still eating the toast but then suddenly it all came back up again.

She seems fine in herself, has a bit of a cry afterwards but is then fine and is fine right up until she’s sick. It’s like it suddenly comes on.

She’s not had any diarrhoea, only had one poo today and that was about 6ish and wasn’t loose. Had another dirty nappy about an hour ago, looked a bit looser but wasn’t diarrhoea, was only like a smear in the nappy (sorry for tmi 🙈).

Is this a bug do you think? I really hope not because we’ve come to Center Parcs today!

Also, is it normal for her to eat the toast even if she doesn’t feel well? Surely if she was feeling rubbish she’d refuse to eat?

It's almost certainly a bug, and the responsible thing to do is to keep her away from other people for at least 48 hours after the bug clears (i.e. after the last vomit).

You should avoid swimming pools for a week.

It might sound harsh, but you could make someone with a compromised immune system seriously ill, even though it does not appear to have made your child ill.

No I know, we definitely won’t be going swimming. If she’s still ill tomorrow we’ll probably just go home because not really anything we can do here if she’s not well. Thank you for your reply.

Yes it sounds like a bug to me too. Some little ones can feel hungry despite the vomiting and will persist to try and eat even though its not agreeing with them. I know my dh when he's had bugs over the years will say he's starving the whole day and desperate to eat but won't because he knows it will make him worse, whereas me when I have a bug even the thought of food makes me worse so some people are just different.
