We visited the dentist today who told us dd hypocalcification..And she needs 2 fillings urgently. She is booked in for 19th july.
I know there are much worse things so plesse be kind.

I brush my dc's teeth every morning & every night. Im a bit crazy about it as i had fillings as a child & didn't want my dc to go through the same.
The dentist said she has soft teeth. This has never been mentioned before at other check ups we've had so today came as a bit of a shock and resulted in both me and dd cryingBlush

Does anyone have any experience of hypocalcification? Are there other treatments? The dentist seemed rather concerned & said it needs dealing with urgently. She said if dd wont 'comply' she'll need to 'refer' her to a specialist...does this mean the hospital for a GA? Not sure how it all works?

Any advice/experience gratefully received

Is this the same as hypoplasia? My DD has that. I still brush even though she is 9, and she has had molars sealed as the come in. Other then that, careful brushing and diet are all I can do, I think.

Thanks olivo. Its hypomineralisation. We've been today and gad 1 filling. Yes diet has to be watched. The dentist reassured me today that this is a condition and not caused by me not brushing her teeth correctly, though i cant help wondering

I’ve not heard of it but if dentist said it was your fault - it’s not your fault!

applesandpears56 · 06/07/2018 22:25

Wasn’t!

I know apples
It just came as a shock as its never been mentioned until this week. The dentist was adamant that she'd mentioned it at our last 3 appointments but i am sure she hasnt because i would have asked more questions like i have this week.
No point dwelling on it now, we just have to deal with it.
Thanks for your post
