I'm sorry I can't help but am bumping for you

Poor munchkin! How is little one in himself? Temperature? Is he floppy and listless? Is he dehydrated?

Has anyone else in the family been ill? I'm just wondering if there's any chance at all it could be an allergy. Any new foods been introduced? Have you tried anything new that may be being passed through the breastmilk?

Hi thanks for the replies.

It’s a bug. Dh had it Friday-Sat and quick recovery. Ds(6) Sunday morning and was feeling great by late afternoon (he is annoyed at 48 ours off school!) and dd(3.5) got it yesterday at 5pm.

I am the only one standing and I am just waiting!

Ds is fine in himself in that he is running, laughing, playing through the day, wanting to eat and napping.

I thought with the plain food he would be ok.

Any idea if I should keep with food or just do bm And water? Seems a bit cruel as he keeps everything down during day.

Just gave him a bf now and he burped and was sick lots , not just a baby sick Burp.

At a loss as how to help his tummy recover.

Regarding new foods none that I can think of but would be too much of a coincidence.

Oh dear. :-( You can get into a vicious cycle where you vomit on drinking, become dehydrated so drink again which causes you to vomit again etc etc so your stomach doesn't have a chance to recover. I don't know what to advise really, except give it a couple more days and if it gets to a full week with little improvement I'd talk to his doctor. In the meantime I would keep going as you are, offer plain dry foods during the day as he doesn't seem to be bringing them up. It's a horrible situation but at least it doesn't sound like he's too poorly in himself.

Like Dory says, 'Just keep swimming'!

Thanks! It’s so hot too it can’t be helping the situation. He is asleep again now after more water and bm and appears not to have any adverse reaction.

Is this his first tummy bug? If so it could just be his immune system struggling to get rid of the virus since it's the first interaction with it. I'd stick with what you are doing, frequent fluids, plain foods as long as he wants them and second what pp says if he's still throwing up by tomorrow which would be a week then I'd ring gp for some advice.

Pikehau · 03/07/2018 22:20

Thanks. Yes it’s his first big and indeed my first experience of a baby having it. Other 2 were over 2 before they got one.

Any suggestions on plain foods?

Today was bread, breadsticks, rice cakes, boiled potato....

Yeah I’ll def call dr if anything else happens. Managed to get him down tonight - I limited the bf which I hated and then gave him a bit more - little and often-

but have not checked for a bit. Fingers x

Thanks for all posts

How's he doing today? I really hope he's in the recovery stage now.

Jelly is good! You could just spoon some out on a tray and let him smush it with his hands, see it as messy play but if he eats it that's fine. Creamed chicken and rice?

Hi littlemisscomper

Thanks for all the posts and info! Appreciated.

He had a good day as normal and went down tonight ok no
Vomit.

Plain food again but did give a tiny bit of butter on toast and tried chicken breast strip that I had baked in tinfoil so moist. He enjoyed that....

Fingers x for through the night.
