Constant high temp but no other symptoms

Hi I wonder if anyone can help. My 4 year old boy has had a constant high temperature exceeding 40 for 24 hours with convulsions. I have been controlling the temperature keeping his body as cool as possible and using Calpol and nurofen.
After his first convulsions I took him straight to A&E just incase it was a fit, but they reassured me that it was common in children with very high temperatures to have convulsions. The worrying thing is that he is showing no other signs of illness or infection. I thought with a high temp he would have an ear ache or something to go with it.
The hospital said to monitor him at home as they could not find anything else. I just wondered if anyone had seen the same symptoms and could help. Thanks

Immunity problem
? Surely they’ve requested some blood tests??

Roseola?

Mine eldest had it - 2-3 days of high temp, then an impressive, but non-itchy rash.

Ds2 once ran a temperature like this (luckily no convulsions) for 10 days. It was flu - but you need to get the gp to give him the once over to check that it's not anythjng else before reaching that conclusion.
