Swollen lymph nodes for over a year

Hiya

Posted about this last year, daughter has a swollen lymph node and in December they done some tests, the Dr said they came back okay but wanted more bloods done in January as something to do with cells. In January they came back clear and he said “while I can’t promise she’ll never get cancer, it’s nothing to worry about now” the swollen lymph node is still there. It hasn’t gotten bigger but it’s still there.

Surely there’s a reason for the lymph node still being swollen? Am booking another doctors appointment to discuss but I have a feeling they will refer her for more bloods, the last bloods were taken in January and they had to try 8 fucking times to get blood from her and in the end an anesthetist had to do them, it’s obviously scared her and she’s terrified of the hospital now so don’t want to put her through more tests.

So basically has anyone got a child that’s had a swollen lymph node for more than a year and it’s been fine?

Sorry to ramble

Yes my daughter had something similar. Very scary. She had every test going and is fine. Our brilliant Doctor said that it would get bigger if it was a problem but he still saw us lots of times, arranged tests (scan and bloods) and detailed explanations of how more sinister things developed and what to look for. He also referred us to a consultant. The consultant agreed with his assessment.

That said, if you’re worried, get it checked out. I’m not sure if she’s still got it as I had to train myself not to look for it. I got my husband and mum to check it periodically for me.
