Does anyone know what this might be, it’s on DS’ chest (he’s 5)? I wondered if it was ring worm but it doesn’t look like photos on the internet. Thanks!

That looks like ring worm

welshmist · 11/06/2018 18:30

Does not look like ringworm to me from what I can recall, thank god it does not look like a tick bite either. To be honest it looks like another child bit him.

MissConductUS · 11/06/2018 18:31

I don't know how common it is in the UK, but it looks a bit like Lyme disease:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/lyme-disease/

I had it back in the 80's and it's nothing to mess about with. It is fortunately very easy to treat when caught early.

Does he spend time outdoors where he might have gotten a tick bite?

MycatsaPirate · 11/06/2018 18:32

Ringworm?
Lyme disease? (if it is, very serious and seek medical advice asap)
rash?

welshmist · 11/06/2018 19:26

On my FB local page this week, one area is alive with ticks, you cannot walk there, take dogs unless you check everyone thoroughly, the local children have been told to stay away. We check our dogs every time they are walked and are avoiding two areas in particular. The local papers have said nothing, tourism wins.

SendYouUpinFlames · 11/06/2018 19:29

Strangely, it looks like a human bite mark from the pictures Confused

Gammeldragz · 11/06/2018 19:34

Doesn't look like either to me. As another poster's said, looks more like a bite!

Starlight345 · 11/06/2018 19:36

Is there chemist open near you pharmacy may be able to recognise

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 11/06/2018 19:47

That's a bite mark, I'm sure...

Silentnighttwo · 11/06/2018 20:51

Thanks for the replies.

It does look like a bite, but it’s not the shape of a bite and DS says nothing’s bitten him Confused.

We are in the countryside and I had to remove a tick from him yesterday, so I did wonder about Lyme disease although it looks nothing like the internet photos.

Might see in the morning and take him to the doctors if no improvement.

If you have removed a tick from him, I would deffo. go to GP tomorrow!! my friend had two on her this afternoon. Shuddering here....

MissConductUS · 11/06/2018 22:21

Some cases of Lyme don't show a ring at all. There's very little consistency in how they look. If you know he's had tick bites get him check right away.

FuckingHateRain · 11/06/2018 23:06

Op how did you remove the tick? freaking out here !

Witchend · 12/06/2018 14:13

Ringworm is much more a circle of dryish looking skin. I don't think it's a tic bite either. Unless the tic was in the middle of that patch, in which case it's probably worth a check, although I still don't think so, then I'd say it is too soon for Lyme's disease to show.

I'd say a human bite too, or perhaps he's leant on the end of a stick.

shewolfmum · 12/06/2018 22:38

Keep the tick! They can test it for lyme? Too late...?
