DSD suspected glandular fever

Hi,

So I've heard of glandular fever before but don't really need know much about it.

Is it contagious etc? DSD (8) was with us last weekend then went home to her mum's on Sunday night. School started on Monday and she asked to go home on Monday afternoon a sore throats and headaches. Glands were really swollen and the doctor suspected tonsillitis. Last night we heard that the doctor now suspects glandular fever.

I was really careful when she was at ours at the weekend and limited physical contact between her and my daughter (half sister) who is 11 months. This was Mainly due to DSD having two weeks previously come to ours the day after she had vomited and passing the stomach bug to my daughter - who ended up in hospital due to vomiting non stop for 8 hours but anyway, the crappy really runny poo nappies that leaked continued onto that weekend so didn't want to risk passing anything back.

Anyway, can babies get glandular fever??

Not really badly contagious unless you kiss lips to lips (old name "the kissing disease"-it's why it's more common in teens Grin) or share drinks.
Wouldn't worry too much.

It may not be glandular fever. There is a viral bug going round very similar to glandular fever. We have all had it. It lasts about 2-3 weeks the gp said. We had a raging sore throat. The glands in our neck were so swollen you could see them visibly easily. Severe body aches and pains but bizarrely no high temperature. A steady 36.3 for all of us. Although you got the shivers and chills and then sweats like a very high temp cause.

@divadee she's got all that but with a constant high temp which settles when she's on full kids meds. We'll find out later this week I think on whether it is glandular fever or not. Doctors ordered blood tests
