Hi, my 2 month old had this red mark on his head, it appeared at around 1 month old and hasn’t really changed in shape or size, maybe a teeny bit more pronounced now. I can’t find any pictures online that look similar so I’m wondering if it’s a strawberry birthmark or something else, please help!! Not sure how to add a picture but it’s looks more like a little blood vessel or a scratch. Wish I could post a picture!!

My Dd had one on her arm - it started to appear after about 2 weeks. I thought her big brother had bitten her! It was raised and did look very red - a bit like blood vessels I suppose. It started to disappear when she was about 3 and was gone by about 5/6. Wouldn't know it had ever been there now (14).

Hard to say without a picture! Strawberry birthmarks tend to appear shortly after birth and generally grow for about 9 months/a year.
They then start to shrink and fade.

They’re not always that raised

They are common, found in 1 in 10 children I was told when DS had them.

They subside usually by the time the kids go to school.

They need looking after if they are somewhere the can get knocked.

In some cases they can be multiples and internal, in the case of DS. We were a GoSH case and saw many much worse than his - imagine in nappy area for example.

Nothing like that, it literally look like some kind of scratch but really red

Do you have a health visitor OP? Can you ask them to take a peek at your next check up?

Thanks for replies all, I think it is a strawberry mark just wish I could find a picture similar. It looks like a scratch if you didn’t know and is like a cluster of red pinpricks very close together and random so not round. Going to check with doctor next week
