Newborn belly button bleeding?

Hi everyone, FTM here. I've done some research and read that it is relatively normal, but I just wanted to ask other mums for my own peace of mind. Halo

My little boy is one week old today, to my surprise his cord fell off Monday - but midwife came on Monday and said that it can never come off 'too early'. However I noticed yesterday that there was some dried blood on his nappy, and again today there is some on his vest. Not much blood at all, I just didn't want to risk it being infected.

I think this is quite normal as far as I remember. There was marks on the inside of the nappies sometimes with my kids. I can't remember if there still was after the cord came off. Can you give your midwife a phone in the morning? I'm sure everything is fine.

Little bit of blood is fine but keep an eye. If it keeps bleeding, they might cauterise which is straightforward. But by the sounds of it, will dry up now nicely.

A little bit can be normal. My youngest a took 3 weeks to come off and we were just told to watch out for it being smelly or gunky.

Is your midwife due to pop round again? I would just get her to check it for your peace of mind.

Just keep bathing it, it will stop in a few days. I think it's just the deepest part healing.
