hello - got to nursery today and DD's eye is streaming with grunge - went straight to the pharmacy but they can't give anything without prescription.

I'll go first thing tomorrow but any tips on how to keep her comfortable over night? She won't let me go near her eye, have been trying to get a compress on it to wipe away the gunk

Any tips on how to avoid this spreading?

thanks

It doesnt usually need treatment, even if bacterial but sadly, it's one of the common infections building up antibiotic resistance due to over prescribing.

I boil kettle put some water and salt into a bowl and let it dissolve then cool, wash the eye gently with cotton pads. Helps get rid of the hunk and cures the infection. I e found this to be as quick as the drops I've had from dr for my 18 month old. She's had it three times and only ever lasted a day or two if you bath in the salt water. Good luck.
