Hit me with your chicken pox remedies!
I've a 5 yo and a 1 yo they've just come out in spots today. I've started on kids piriton and bought in virasoothe and camomile just in case! Any other suggestions to try and make this as easy as possible. Grin

Oats in the bath

Nogodsnomasters · 30/05/2018 09:02

The virasoothe is way better than the camomile lotion, piriton works well and def echo pp on the oats bath, my boy had a good few during his pox. You're probably in for a rough ride with the 1 Yr old who can't understand not scratching and can't cope as well with the lack of sleep like the 5 year old might do.

Thank you! Is it just straight oats in the bath or can you get like an oat bath milk or something?

Just pop porridge oats in an old sock or tights, tie the end and let it soak in the water...
FWIW my 11 month old and 3 year old pretty much sailed through it. Plenty of spots, but no itching or disturbed sleep. Only very mildly under the weather.

Just remember NO NUROFEN!

Poxclin mousse and oat baths are what I've used here - day 8 now

messymumbun · 01/06/2018 09:33

Thank you all so much for the advice, we've ended up with such a mild dose that it will be inevitable it'll come back again! It's my 5yo second mild dose of chicken pox!
Hasn't affected them like I was anticipating! I've three extremely bored kids though in quarantine! (My 8yo had it really bad as a baby) so she's so fed up especially as it's half term!

There's only so much moana and trolls you can take right?

Poxcillian mousse. It's expensive but way better than virasoothe. Definitely worth the money. You might have to try a few chemists as it can be hard to get. Put it on every 2-3 hours, even if the kids don't seem uncomfortable.
Hope they don't get it too bad, it can be miserable.
