So dd (9 months) has been unwell for a few days now; fevers, up all night; but nothing drastic. The last 48 hours she's been getting progressively hotter and more uncomfortable so has been on the Calpol/Nurofen since yesterday evening. She's still so, so hot. I've been at home with her today.
This afternoon I thought she was holding her head funny or hunching or something (usually I'm holding her so I haven't had the chance to really look at her) but I checked and it was a golf ball sized lump around where her salivary gland is!
Obviously I packed her straight into the car and off to the walk-in. The nurse prescribed antibiotics for her bug and said it was "probably a gland", but wanted me to wait to see the doctor about it later. I couldn't wait though; I'd been there hours and was already late to get my 2 year old from nursery. We agreed I'd bring her back in the morning.
Now it occurs to me it could be mumps!! It looks just like it. I'm scared! It'll be okay to see the doctor in the morning won't it? How much do I need to worry??
