DD is 5 weeks old and is EBF. From around week 2 she started becoming really uncomfortable after feeds, particularly at night. After she feeds she draws her legs up, grunts, cries and wheezes/squeeks. She is frequently sick, sometimes projectile and it is often chunky rather than fresh milk and often has hiccups after feeding which usually end in her vomiting with every hiccup which is really distressing for her and me!!

The vomiting is worse when she is lying flat so we have raised one end of her cot and make sure she is kept upright for 30 mins after feeding. We also burp her frequently throughout feeds.

In the last week she has started having difficulty with bowel movements, they had been fine up until now with the odd grunt and strain but now it takes a few hours of intermittent crying and straining to the point where she has made herself sick. When they do come they are usually explosive but runny.

This morning she was particularly uncomfortable so gave her a bath to relax her as this sometimes helps her to pass a BM. It did help and she pooped all over a towel when I took her out but I noticed that there were quite a few black dots like peppercorns in the poo that I think might be blood.

She has her 6 week check up on Wednesday and the midwives weren't particularly helpful when I told them about previous symptoms but I'm getting quite worried now. Do you think we should wait until Wednesday or shall I get her seen sooner? Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Is this just me over reacting? It doesn't seem normal for her to be in so much discomfort.

My first thought is Cows milk
Protein allergy. If there's blood in the poo, take a photo and take it with you to the GP.

My first is allergy to dairy, dog and eggs and was diagnosed at six weeks after having awful reflux.
