Arghh! Missed first orthodontist appointment! Do we go back to the bottom of the list?

I'm an idiot! Was photocopying appointment letter for DD2's first visit to the orthodontist (to send in to school as proof of appt) when I realised that appt was last week, not this week! I had marked the date on the calendar weeks ago and then filed away the letter. Why I've marked it as 23rd May instead of 17th, I have no idea. It's not even the same day of the week!
Obviously I will be phoning the practice on Monday to grovel but has this happened to anyone else? Was the orthodontist very kind and did you get another appointment? Will DD2 go back to the bottom of the NHS list for another 3 year wait? TIA

I know if you miss first appointment at our hospital it always says that if you feel you still need the appointment you have to be referred again, that was for paediatrics, ophthalmology and dermatology not orthodontics though.

Thanks NK346f2849X127d8bca260. This is what I'm afraid of. She's waited 3 years for this appointment. I feel sick...

This happened to me earlier this year. The orthodentist sent us an appointment and for some reason I read May instead of March. I didn't realise until the orthodentist wrote informing that the appointment had been missed and invited us to make a new one. The letter just stated that if we didnt respond by x date we would need his usual dentist to re-refer. Fingers crossed they allow you to re-arrange also.

Not helpful but my gp and 3 different hospitals text me like crazy for upcoming appointments as well at sending letters out

olderthanyouthink - our gp, hospital and usual dentist send reminders too - at an annoying rate! I will never complain about them again. No reminder from the orthodontist - I guess they weren't accounting for dim-witted parents!
Thanks for the glimmer of hope WhiteHartLane. I hope our orthodontist is equally forgiving.
