Steroid use whilst at pre school

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could help.

DC gets quite poorly fairly frequently with viral wheeze/ asthma and is prescribed oral steroids normally for a day or two. I usually keep him at home for a few days before going back to pre school.

Unfortunately he had another episode of a stuffy chest, breathlessness and was given steroids but this time it's for a whole week.

I understand if they're on steroids it's dangerous to catch chicken pox which he hasn't had yet. Obviously there's a high change of him being in contact with a child at pre school who may have it.

Should I keep him at home for the whole week? Should have asked his doctor but it completely slipped my mind.

Thanks in advance Smile

Ask for a phone consultation with your GP tomorrow morning. You should have the answer by the end of the day. Also call and ask the preschool as they probably have experience of this as it must have come up before with them.
