Sun cream caused a rash? Help!

I put a different sun cream on my children at the weekend and now they both have skin that feels rough like sandpaper. Like thousands of tiny bumps. My eldest says it’s occasionally itchy but otherwise it doesn’t seem to be affecting them. Anyone know if sun cream can cause this to happen?

Yes my dd reacts to sunscreen in the firm of an itchy dry rash.

I have to get special anti allergy ones Hmm

yes same happens to DS. He doesn't have sensitive skin but this happened with a specific brand, boots ONCE factor 30 cream if I remember well. Now I use Nivea sensitive and he doesn't get a rash. It think it's a mixture of heat rash and the cream causing the skin to not breath as much.

My dd reacts like this to the white/cream like ones, but does better with the oil type sprays

Yes my son is allergic to practically all sun creams and comes out in rash you described! We recently lost his anti-allergy one I got last year and I can’t remember for the life of me what is was called! It was in a white roll on bottle. If anyone knows please let me know! We tried the Child’s farm sensitive one last weekend thinking it would be ok, but he had an allergic reaction to that too! I think it’s the Salicylate chemical he is allergic too. Any recommendations for specialist suncreams 8 could try?

The La Roche Posay ones are good.

My DS can only use Nivea.

Finally found the lost sun cream - it is Sunsense! Was honestly the only sunscreen my son has been able to use without a reaction. Hope it helps someone else too!
