My 2.75yo still has a v definite soft spot/fontanel. Have 2monthly checks and last time he was out through a battery of developmental tests which he flew through. But they won't sign him off.. what is the concern here with an otherwise thriving child? Has anyone else's dc been so late to close? Is there anything I can do/have done?

Vitamin D deficiency? Can caused delayed closing of Fontanelles.

My father has had an open fontanelle all his life. It just means that he needed bigger hats at 60 than he did at 20. Just because they are keeping an eye on it doesn't mean it will end up being a problem.

Thanks both- only seeing replies now. Yes he's being checked for Cit D deficiency but is showing no obvious signs though we are probably all low in it.

Imagine having it open all his life!
