These spots appeared on my 12 year olds torso.
1st picture was taken a week ago after he'd been to the nurse, she gave him some steroid cream but she said she had no idea what it was and wasn't holding out much hope of cream working.
A week later he's complaining that the top one is itchy, and they look worse to me than before treatment.
They appeared from nowhere and he's had them for a few weeks.
Any ideas?

Molloscum

Ledkr · 03/05/2018 08:15

They are in their way out by the looks of it.

MissWimpyDimple · 03/05/2018 08:19

Can't actually believe the nurse didn't know what they are!

gettingtherequickly · 03/05/2018 08:24

Yes molluscum, highly contagious I thought.

yDS had them for a few months when he was about 10, he was very self conscious about them.

LIZS · 03/05/2018 08:29

Agree. Caused by a virus and could be around for months. If he scratches they will spread.

Molluscum contagious or something like that. It can take 2yrs to clear up & is very contagious. Doesn't make them ill at all though. The spots will eventually erupt & start to clear up but it does take a while.

Dab neat tea tree oil on them with a cotton bud. A small dark red spot will form in the middle and grow to crust it over.

Thanks for all your replies and a quick google image has made me feel better but yes it's strange that the nurse didn't seem to have any idea, she was training though so possibly should have asked for second opinion.
Thanks again everyone.

Dd had them for ages but they cleared up by taking homeopathic thuja

Definitely molluscum contagiosum. Boil wash any clothes/towels/bedding as it spreads like wildfire
