DD with possible epilepsy

Hi, my daughter is 9. She has had 2 seizures that I know off, after a lot of arguing the consultant referred her for EEG test which has shown abnormal electric activity on left side of her brain, urgent MRI has been done but results come after 3 weeks, I cannot sleep thinking what would it possibly be. I can’t possibly express how I’m feeling, totally broken inside. What could it be that’s causing the seizures apart from epilepsy? May I add, apart from there seizures she is absolutely well.

Awww Bugs been there with DS. It is a horrible time. You’ll get through it though. It is like everything in life, you’ll get used to it if you have to. It is a shock though.

Thank you for your reassurance, it truly is very stressful. Seeing her during the seizure was the most terrifying experience of my life, possibly because I didn’t know she was having a seizure, I thought she was chocking to death in front of my eyes. It was during the night.

Hi BugsBunny14,

My 3yo DD has epilepsy and had an MRI a couple of weeks ago to determine which type.

Please reassured that a lot of children can “grow out” of epilepsy!

Have you received her results yet? X

Bugs - I really feel for you. Must have been terrifying to see your dd like that.
I had epilepsy as a child but not actually diagnosed until I was 31!! I’m 44 now and on medication.
It’s all a terrifying thought but actually something that becomes your new normal. Once you’ve adjusted to that, life actually feels the same. Different but the same.
Sending you hugs and reassurance.
